Let's start with a "believe it or not". Not too long back, Adventure Magazine listed The Fish Pier at 667 East Broadway as, "One of the ten best places on the East Coast to get fried chicken". Now, this is South (!) Boston, of course, but the East Coast includes a very substantial portion of the true Deep South, which everyone thinks of as fried chicken country. Not too shabby for a Southie restaurant (move over, Colonel).

The Fish Pier has been noticed in other journals as well. The popular "Cheap Eats" column in The Boston Globe's Thursday "Calendar" section featured it back in the nineties. Mention was made in particular of the fried clams, which can be easily messed up anywhere between the batter and the frying. The broiled haddock, shrimp scampi over linguini, garden salads, and the lobster roll were also selected as quite good.

The Fish Pier is becoming a South Boston institution, and when Steve isn't there, you'll be served by his Manager, Rob Murley, and the enthusiastic staff. Take advantage of The Fish Pier's delivery service as well. Local Southie deliveries cost $2 per run, whether the order is large or small, Downtown, which includes an area bounded by UMass, Bayside Expo, City Hospital, and the Financial District is somewhat more at $3 per stop. According to Steve, this money all goes to the driver - The Fish Pier gets nothing extra for delivered meals.
